Course notes

Every student must contribute something to the course that will help students in the future. In 2009, some students decided to write a set of course notes. These notes were expanded and revised in 2010 and 2010. The notes cover the same material as is available in the audio recordings of the lectures, but it is sometimes more efficient to study from written notes. Course notes are something different than a book. The notes should contain everything a student needs to know for the exam but nothing more. This requires careful editing.

There is still much work that could be done to improve the notes. The topics covered in the lectures are listed on the course outline. Not all topics are currently included in the notes. Adding a section would be a suitable project for a student project. Another suitable project who be to edit one of the existing chapters. The chapter editors should try to improve the chapter and try to replace all copyrighted images with either original images or public domain images. There should be a resource section in each chapter that indicates which books and websites the editor finds most useful.

The 2011 version of the course notes: SSP_Skriptum_2016.pdf.

Latex files needed to edit the notes: Script_2016.zip.
