The course notes for Numerical Methods in Physics taught by Prof. Heinrich Sormann at the Graz University of Technology originally appeared in German as Numerische Methoden in der Physik. The notes were translated into English by Lilia Boeri and Julian Pilz. Many of the routines that are discussed were taken from Numerical Recipes by H. Press, B. P. Flannery, S. A. Teukolsky, and W. T. Vettering. While this is a good source of numerical routines, the license for the use of the routines is very restrictive. The Numerical Recipes routines have been replaced by public domain alternatives in this version of the course notes.
